Building Mental Health & Belonging
for Black and Latino Boys
Brothers=Connect is a community-led movement creating spaces where Black and Latino boys aged 13-19 can find healing, purpose, and connection.
Through culturally responsive mental health support, we're working to reduce suicide rates and build stronger, more resilient communities—one relationship at a time.

The numbers tell a story we can't ignore:
  • Suicide rates among Black youth have increased by 60% in the past two decades
  • For Latino boys, suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death ages 15-19
  • Only 1 in 3 Black and Latino youth with mental health needs receive proper care
  • Black adolescent suicide attempts increased dramatically from 1991-2017, with injury rates rising 122% for boys. In New York, Black high school students' suicide attempts increased 8.8% from 1999-2019, while white students' attempts decreased 16.4%
How B=C Works
Our program is built on deep collaboration with communities and
a commitment to addressing the real needs of Black and Latino boys.
Explore Together
We start by listening. Through research with key stakeholders engaging in the youth & mental health spaces, we identify pain points our young people are currently facing—from school stress to family dynamics and various societal barriers
Build With Intention
Next, we co-create. With the help of our community coalition and advisory board, we’ve shaped the Brothers=Connect experience to reflect our youth's reality—layering in racial identity, resilience, and culturally relevant tools to process trauma.
Show Up & Deliver
Finally, we launch B=C at select YMCA / Boys & Girl’s club locations in NYC with trained adult leaders, youth engagement activities, and long term check-ins. We support your staff and youth every step of the way.
Becoming A Host Site
As a Brothers=Connect partner, you’ll receive:
  • $1,000 for your site in support for your time and participation (its for site, not personal usage)
  • Training for 5 adults as program co-facilitators

We simply ask for your commitment to:
